The head of state had a meeting with the Moldovan diaspora in Moscow

Today, in Moscow, the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon had a meeting with our fellow citizens who live and work in the Russian Federation.

The participants discussed the problems faced by our fellow countrymen, the situation in the country, the domestic and foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova. The interlocutors also spoke about the way in which functioned the agreements reached by the Presidents of Moldova and Russia, and in particular about tens of thousands of Moldovan citizens who had faced restrictions imposed by the Federal Migration Service of Russia.

Igor Dodon told the fellow citizens that during the recent meeting with the President of the Russian Federation they had reached a very important agreement for 148 thousand citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who had broken the Federal Law "On the departure from the territory of the Russian Federation and entry into the territory of the Russian Federation", Article 26, paragraphs 4 and 8, and Article 27, paragraphs 12, 13 and 14..

"The ban on entering the Russian Federation imposed on these categories of Moldovan citizens will be canceled if they leave the territory of the Russian Federation no later than February 1, 2019 and will return to the Russian Federation not earlier than 15 March 2019. In fulfillment of these conditions, besides the abolition of the ban on entering the country, the new term of legal residence of the Moldovan citizen on the territory of the Russian Federation will begin ", the head of state said.

At the same time, the interlocutors discussed the need to open a larger number of polling stations on the territory of the Russian Federation. Igor Dodon said that basing on the number of citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the Russian Federation, there should be opened at least 150 polling stations.

Given that next year would be declared the Year of Moldova in the Russian Federation, the President of Moldova appealed to heads of Diaspora associations suggesting that they should prepare a plan of activities related to the celebration of the year.

The head of state also reiterated that he will continue to work, so that the Moldovan-Russian relations will develop for the benefit of both peoples.
