President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree on the Defence Ministry today. The decree, issued according to Art. 98, paragraph (6) of the Moldovan Constitution, provides for the following: „Art.1. Mr. Vitalie Marinuta is dismissed from the post of Defence Minister. Art.2. Mr. Igor Panfile, deputy defence minister, will ensure the exercising of the interim of the position of defence minister till a new minister is designated, according to the legislation in force. Art.3. This decree enters into force on the date of signing.”.
„This decision is a confidence vote from the part of the political groups at the European Parliament for all Moldovan citizens, to encourage Moldova’s European path,” Timofti said.
Nicolae Timofti said that a campaign on promoting European values would be launched in Moldova soon, in order to impede the propaganda of denigrating the European Union.
Nicolae Timofti is confident that the Ukrainian political forces and all sides involved in recent conflicts and disputes will be able to further rationally and wisely choose the political option, in order to avoid a new deadlock, in the interest of the Ukrainian people.
Nicolae Timofti voiced confidence that Moldova’s modernisation programme, implemented by the Chisinau authorities, will place the country on an irreversible European path.
