In Geneva, the Head of State urged development partners to continue supporting countries that follow a democratic path

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, participated today at the invitation of the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, at the Summit on Effective Development Cooperation in Geneva. The aim of the event is to discuss the effectiveness of development assistance at the global level. In her message to the Summit participants, the Head of State underlined the need to better adapt external assistance to the increasingly complex needs of the world's countries, including Moldova.

At the same time, President Maia Sandu urged international organisations and development partners to continue to support states on a democratic path. The Head of State also spoke about the efforts of Moldova’s authorities to find solutions to the major challenges our country has faced in recent years: the Covid-19 pandemic, the refugee and energy crisis caused by Russia's war against Ukraine.

President Maia Sandu thanked the development partners for their support in managing these crises. "For years, Moldova has missed opportunities to develop in a sustainable, transparent and accountable manner. Today, we are firmly on the path of progress and we are determined to promote our national development agenda in an accountable and transparent way," said President Maia Sandu at the Summit.
