On the evening of December 6, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, received the Madeleine K. Albright 2022 Democracy Award from the National Democratic Institute (NDI), in Washington DC, USA.
The leader from Chisinau expressed her gratitude for the appreciation and mentioned that she accepts this award on behalf of all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are fighting for democracy and freedom.
The Democracy Award, named in honor of the former US Secretary of State, has also been presented this year to the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Slovak President Zuzana Čaputova and to the Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
