President Maia Sandu met with the Federal Chancellor, Olaf Scholz

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, during a working visit to Berlin. The two officials discussed the latest security developments in the region, the impact of the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis. President Maia Sandu stressed the importance of European unity in the face of these challenges. The talks also focused on Moldovan-German relations and future cooperation projects. The Head of State said that the authorities in Chisinau were firmly committed to advancing the reform agenda, despite the challenges we face.

"I thanked the Federal Chancellor for the support offered to Moldova in obtaining the status of EU candidate country and for the initiative to launch, together with France and Romania, the Moldova Support Platform. I also expressed my appreciation for the support that Moldova has received over the last three decades from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation through the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ)", said President Maia Sandu.

Thanks to successful Moldovan-German cooperation, dozens of communities in Moldova modernized their infrastructure and citizens have access to water, sanitation and quality public services. "We also discussed the major role of German investments, which have brought new industries to different regions of the country and offered thousands of people the opportunity to work in Moldova", concluded the Head of State.
