The head of state had a discussion with Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, who made a brief stop in Chisinau during her visit to Ukraine. President Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude for France's support over the years and during this complicated period, including through the Support Platform for Moldova.
The French state has provided us with humanitarian aid to manage the refugee crisis, budget support, technical assistance in the energy sector and for the modernisation of the railway. France has also been a strong ally in our efforts to become a candidate country for accession to the European Union. We continue to count on the support of our friends in advancing the European integration process.
The interlocutors also talked about the challenges our country is facing in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, Moldova's energy security, Moldovan-French cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and the recovery of stolen assets from the country and the reforestation programme.
