President Maia Sandu met with Professor Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met today in Geneva with the founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, Professor Klaus Schwab. The interlocutors discussed the situation in the Republic of Moldova and the cooperation needed to accelerate our country's development agenda.

The Head of State noted that due to Russia's war in Ukraine, our country is facing several crises, the most acute being the energy crisis, caused by rising energy prices and limited access to resources. President Maia Sandu also stressed that the authorities are engaged in a wide-ranging reform process to clean up the judiciary, improve legislation and ensure a friendly business environment that will attract more investors. Priority areas cover the energy sector, including renewable energy, IT and agriculture.

Officials also discussed the government's efforts to modernise the country. President Maia Sandu expressed her conviction that the World Economic Forum is a good platform for cooperation to this end.
