President of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Timofti participated today, 29 October current year, in Chisinau, at the opening of conference “Civic Fest 2013: Moldova for citizens”, dedicated to civil society.
During the reunion, the Head of State delivered a speech in which he spoke about the importance of collaboration between state power and civil society, and about the importance of the latter in defending human rights and interests.
“It is normal that in a democratic country people to be able to influence, by all legal forms, the political and economic decisions. Not only in the voting booth once every four years, but through close cooperation with the structures involved in society management”, Nicolae Timofti said.
Also, the Head of State urged the civil society representatives to bring through their activity clarity to citizens on the European integration process. “I wish that the debates on European issues you initiate to be punctual and enlightening for the citizens, in order to offer a clear view on our European future”, President Timofti said.
