On her last day at the UN General Assembly, the Head of State held several bilateral meetings

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had several bilateral meetings on her last day at the 77th UN General Assembly in New York.

The Head of State discussed with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen the economic difficulties caused by the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis affecting the entire continent. Maia Sandu stressed that our country is counting on the support of its European partners, especially in this difficult period marked by the energy crisis and important inflation.

With the President of Finland, Sauli Ninist, discussions focused on regional security cooperation, the consequences of the war in Ukraine for the region and the measures needed to effectively manage the humanitarian crisis it has caused. The two leaders also talked about the ambitious reforms that Moldova has committed itself for an accelerated integration into the European Union.

At the meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the focus was on the reform process in our country and the support needed to combat security threats and mitigate the consequences of war. The Head of State mentioned the difficult economic situation in the country, exacerbated by the energy crisis, and the efforts made to support citizens during the cold season. The two leaders also spoke about the possibilities for cooperation in various areas of common interest.
