Moldovan President Maia Sandu spoke by phone with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis.
Officials agreed to consolidate the two countries' efforts in managing the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The Head of State mentioned that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the authorities mobilized exemplary to manage an increasing flow of refugees with different needs. According to the President, this requires a significant coordination effort, but also important resources, and at this time the Republic of Moldova needs the immediate support of the international community.
The President of the Federal Republic expressed the solidarity and support of the Swiss Confederation for the humanitarian efforts of the Republic of Moldova, stating that Switzerland will contribute with the necessary support in this regard. During the discussion, counterparts also agreed to step up bilateral cooperation in the fight against corruption.
