In Reykjavik, the Head of State held talks with her Icelandic counterpart

On the eve of the day marking 28 years of diplomatic relations with Iceland - 17 May - the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson.

"I discussed with President Jóhannesson the bilateral cooperation between our countries and welcomed the finalization of the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement with EFTA, which is to be signed in June and which will allow us to increase trade," said the Head of State.

Iceland holds the presidency of the Council of Europe, and the organisation's fourth summit is now taking place in Reykjavik. In this context, President Maia Sandu also spoke with her counterpart about the complicated situation in our region, reiterating Moldova's commitment to contribute to maintaining peace and security in the area.
