President Maia Sandu met with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili

President Maia Sandu met today with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who is on a working visit to Chisinau. This is the first visit of a Georgian President to our country in 12 years.

"I expressed my hope that with this visit we will give a new impetus to the Moldovan-Georgian bilateral relations. We want more intensive trade and economic cooperation, increased investments, as wel as more cultural relations" President Maia Sandu said during the bilateral talks.

The two leaders also talked about the challenges our countries are going through because of Russia's war against Ukraine. "We reiterated Moldova's unconditional respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders. We also mentioned our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, which, like us, has unresolved conflicts on its territory," said the Head of State.

The President also stressed that the citizens of Moldova and Georgia have clear European aspirations, and it is the duty of the authorities of both countries to do everything possible to accelerate the realisation of the European dreams of our citizens. "I am convinced that the common values of freedom and democracy, together with the exchange of experience in the process of European integration, will help our countries move forward on their European path", President Maia Sandu said after her meeting with Salome Zurabishvili.
