President Maia Sandu discussed about ways to ensure the country's energy security with her Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis

The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu is in Bucharest on an official visit at the invitation of the President Klaus Iohannis.

"Today I am on an official visit to Bucharest, where I had a good discussion with President Klaus Iohannis about the very consistent bilateral agenda between our countries, as well about how the joint projects could be moved forward in the complex context in which we now find ourselves - with a war on the border, simultaneously affected by inflation, different crises and instability," said Maia Sandu.

President Maia Sandu also thanked President Klaus Iohannis for Romania's consistent support for Moldova's European course, it helped our country to obtain the status of candidate country for accession to the European Union on 23 June.

"I also hope that we can count on our Romanian friends’ help in order to ensure the energy security of the Republic of Moldova and have accessible energy resources during the cold season, this will help us avoid the destabilization of the situation in our country," said Maia Sandu.

At the end of the talks, the head of state said that Romania has stood by Moldova throughout the years, through thick and thin. "I am confident that the Moldovan-Romanian partnership, which we have strengthened in recent years, will help us to overcome the difficulties we are going through", Maia Sandu said during the meeting with the Romanian president.
