President Maia Sandu at the meeting with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken: "We need the help of the international community to deal with the flow of refugees"

Officials discussed the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America, marked on February 18 a.c., noting that during this period the US government has provided more than $ 1.7 billion in assistance to our country, helping us strengthen as a state. Likewise, President Maia Sandu appreciated the firm support of the US for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and for our European course.

At the same time, the talks focused on the situation in the region and our country's efforts to support the refugees from Ukraine. The Head of State stressed that more than 250,000 people have crossed the border between Ukraine and Moldova since the beginning of the war. "Many of them remain in our country and we need the help of the international community to cope with the ever-increasing flow of refugees," said Maia Sandu.

In the end, the officials pleaded for the strengthening of the political and security dialogue between the two countries, as well as for the development of energy resilience projects, the advancement of the dialogue on justice and the collaboration in the field of asset recovery.

"The Moldovan-American partnership will help us strengthen our country's ability to meet the challenges of our time. A resilient and adaptable Moldova can become a pole of stability and development in the region, a reliable partner and an outpost of the free world. We have big plans for the transformation of the country, but for this we need peace", pointed out President Maia Sandu at the end of the meeting.
