President Maia Sandu met with a delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament

The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with a delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, led by Mr. Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, President of the Chamber of Deputies. The discussion focused on the difficult regional situation generated by the war in Ukraine and the bilateral agenda.

The Head of State thanked Romania for the support provided to our country over the years, including the 100 million euros as non-refundable aid agreed at the joint meeting of the Chisinau and Bucharest governments in February and the 10 million euros announced at the Berlin Conference in April this year.

Members of the Romanian delegation expressed their support for the European aspirations of our country, noting that there is a consensus of all political forces in Romania on the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

President Maia Sandu said that the Republic of Moldova wishes to continue good cooperation with Romania, especially through projects in the field of transport infrastructure, energy security and new investments. The Head of State also asked for the intervention of the Bucharest authorities, as quick as possible, to unblock and smooth the traffic of goods at the Moldovan-Romanian border. Currently, there are kilometre-long queues at the border because of the closure of traditional transport routes.
