President Maia Sandu met with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu welcomed today in Chisinau the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev. The two leaders discussed Moldovan-Bulgarian relations and the centuries-old friendship that links our countries.

"For about 200 years, the Republic of Moldova has been the homeland of a Bulgarian community, which has found a welcoming home here. Our goal is to build a secure and prosperous future for all. Regardless of ethnicity or the language we speak, we are all part of the Republic of Moldova", said the Head of State during the meeting.

President Maia Sandu also noted that in spring this year Moldova took a decisive step towards European integration by applying for EU membership: "Today I met President Radev in the capital of a candidate country for European integration. We are counting on Bulgaria's support on our European path", President Maia Sandu added.

Also today, a cooperation agreement was signed between Energocom and Bulgartransgaz, which will allow the Moldovan operator to access the Bulgarian gas transmission network. "Access to alternative energy sources will strengthen our energy independence and help us to be more resilient in the current crisis," the Head of State concluded.
