The Head of State met with German Ambassador Margret Maria Uebber

President Maia Sandu discussed today with the German Ambassador, H.E. Margret Maria Uebber, the priorities of the bilateral agenda and the main directions of future cooperation. The head of state thanked Ambassador Uebber for her country's support of Moldova's European path and for the presence of Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the European Political Community Summit on 1 June.

The President underlined that Germany is one of our strategic partners, supporting our efforts to transform the country through various projects in areas such as: agriculture, green energy, defence and public order, as well as the digital sector. At the end of May, the German government announced a grant of almost €39 million to finance energy efficiency projects and renewable energy. Also, at the end of last year was made a donation of 30 cars for the Border Police, worth around €2 million. Likewise, for the technical modernization of the National Army, the federal government donated 19 armoured personnel carriers.

Through the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), several projects have been implemented over the last decade to develop our villages and towns. For example, in the village of Roșu, Cahul, the sewage system was built; in the town of Leova and the surrounding villages of Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui, the public water supply and sewage services were improved. As well, energy efficiency projects in schools were supported, among the beneficiaries being the "Matei Basarab" Theoretical High School in the town of Basarabeasca and the "Constantin Spătaru" Theoretical High School in the town of Leova.
