The Head of State met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen

President Maia Sandu met today with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who is on a working visit to Chisinau. The Head of State pointed out that the presence of the European Commission President in Chisinau is proof of a very good dialogue and of the very close relations we have with the European Union, despite the difficult period we are all going through.

"I expressed my appreciation for all the support offered by the European partners to our country. In particular, I want to thank for the €250 million energy crisis assistance package announced today by Ursula von der Leyen. This financial assistance will help us diversify energy sources and compensate low-income citizens to pay their bills this winter. The European money is invested in road rehabilitation, in community development projects to improve the lives of the people of Moldova", President Maia Sandu underlined in her message.

The Head of State reaffirmed Moldova's strong commitment to move to the next stage of European integration - the start of negotiations. To this end, the government will continue to implement key reforms, in particular in the justice system, and will insist on the fight against corrupt groups that try to undermine the state and its institutions.
