The Head of State met with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Senate President Nicolae Ciucă

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, today welcomed Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Senate President Nicolae Ciucă in Chisinau on their first official visit since taking up their new posts.

During the meeting with the Romanian officials, the Head of State mentioned that: “In recent years, the cooperation between Chisinau and Bucharest has been very good, as is natural, and we are grateful to receive today the guarantee that things will continue in the same direction. We feel Bucharest's support at every step in our EU accession process and we thank it for being a true supporter in all European forums".

Also, the President stressed that the excellent partnership with Romania materializes in concrete things in important fields for the Republic of Moldova. “We aim to accelerate the energy interconnection and infrastructure projects that are essential for the energy security and economic development of the Republic of Moldova. After the opening, a month ago, of the pontoon bridge Leova - Bumbăta, the rehabilitation of the cross-border bridges follows: Leuşeni - Albiţa; Cahul - Oancea and Sculeni – Sculeni”.

At the same time, President Maia Sandu said that "Romania is also helping us to modernize our localities - 58 projects are funded under the "European Village" program. With Romania's support and the support of other European partners, Moldova will confidently continue its European path".
