Presidency of the Republic of Moldova
President Maia Sandu attended the Salzburg Summit 2023 in Austria, where she gave a speech on geopolitical changes in Europe and our region. She also spoke about how we can join efforts to strengthen the European community and the important role that Moldova plays in this regard.
"Today we are stronger than a year ago. This was possible because instead of giving in, we stood up - as people, as a country. With the help of our friends and partners, we have focused on strengthening our resilience, our democracy, reforming and modernising our institutions and, most importantly, our country project - accession to the European Union," is one of the messages delivered by the head of state.
The President spoke about the fact that the government in Chișinău is firmly dedicated to fulfilling its commitments to the EU and its own citizens, such as the reform of the justice system and the cleaning of institutions from corruption. At the same time, the head of state noted that the authorities in Chișinău are diversifying energy resources, restarting important infrastructure development projects, and opening up and liberalising the country's economy to make it as attractive as possible for domestic and foreign investors.
Moldova's accession to the EU will be an investment in democracy and our collective future in this area of peace called the European Union. By transforming ourselves as a country, we are also transforming Europe.
