Moldovan president receives congratulatory messages on Independence Day of Republic of Moldova

With the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Moldova, several heads of state sent to Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, congratulatory messages.

Among these messages are on behalf of: the President of the United States, Barack Obama, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, the President of Germany, Joachim Gauck, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, King Carl Gustaf of Sweden, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, the President of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

We present excerpts from some of the received messages:

Barack Obama: The United States welcomes the permanent aspirations for European integration of the Republic of Moldova and efforts to strengthen the rule of law. We share your goal of building a better future for the people of Moldova, one rooted solidly in Europe that reflects the values of freedom and democracy. We will continue to support your work to strengthen democratic institutions and the implementation of difficult reforms, but necessary for a prosperous and stable economic future.

Petro Poroshenko: I am sure that further development of comprehensive cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will help us overcome all challenges in regional security and become part of the united European space. 

Joakim Gauck: The Association Agreement between EU and Moldova opens new perspectives for your citizens. To enjoy fully the benefits of the Agreement, it is important to consistently implement the reforms, as well as strengthening democracy and the rule of law.

Vladimir Putin: I am convinced that the development of Russian-Moldovan relations in the spirit of friendship and cooperation meets the fundamental interests of the citizens of both our countries and it is in line with strengthening regional and European stability and security.

Dalya Gribauskaite: Lithuania will always be a firm supporter of your European choice. We will always remain your partner, ready to provide assistance for the development of successful cooperation on know-how and social issues, as well as institution of the civil society and democratic establishments in your country.

Janos Ader: I want to assure you that Hungary will still be attached to the idea of strengthening bilateral cooperation in politics, economy and trade and is ready to contribute to the development of relations between the European Union and Moldova.

Andrzej Duda: I firmly believe that the entry into force of the Association Agreement will accelerate the modernization of the country, while the Moldovan citizens, who due to visa liberalization can travel to the EU countries, will know better the values which inspire it.
